Solid bead work, all sinew sewn. The buffalo raw hide sole is also sinew sewn and shows good wear.

Field collected by Nellie (Rathbun) Woodard and her son Charles Raymond who operated a “Dry Goods” store and Indian Trading Post in Chadron, Nebraska, near the South Dakota border, beginning in the late 1880s
The young and handsome Raymond wore his hair long until age 17 in solidarity with his native friends. He was a lifelong friend of the famous Oglala Teton Sioux Chief Red Cloud (1822–1909).
The complete collection remained unpacked until 1940, after which each piece was left untouched and in its original condition!
The great collection that Nellie and Raymond accumulated over the years was inherited by Raymond’s son Speed and later by his grandson Paul.
This collection was finally sold at the Heritage Auction in Dallas, Texas, through Raymond’s grandson, Paul Rathbun.
