Fine and Rare Early American Folk Art Oil Painting On Deerskin. ca. 1750. Baroque style. Depicting an Eastern Woodland chief wearing a feather headdress decorated with eagle down and porcupine quills. Deerskin applique on collar and shoulder. Wonderful Patina. Condition is fragile as shown in the pictures.
It has never been repaired.
PROVENANCE: This piece was acquired at a small antique shop in North Vancouver B.C in 1970.
