RARE EARLY PAWNEE CRADLE BOARD ca. 1850

This is a rare and beautiful Pawnee cradle board with carved morning star design, and carved border lines.

Some hairline crocks on top and lesser ones on the bottom.

The leather strings may have been replaced a number of years ago.

This cradle board was originally painted black but most of that paint has worn off. The traces of black paint are still visible.

A similar sample is in the British Museum in London.
